| Position: Rector | Full Time |

| Strengths: In 2007 a Vision Committee, composed of a diverse group of parish leaders, laid a foundation for a creative and courageous response to changing realities, new opportunities and a response to a growing sense that the "status quo" was neither sustainable nor sufficient to our needs. (Other parishes in Evanston & neighboring communities have also begun to respond to these changing realities.) | ||
| Challenges: We have identified several focal areas of challenge and opportunity: Environmental & Financial Sustainability; Physical Building & Facilities; and, Outreach. Finally, we believe there is great opportunity to be found in a thoughtful exploration of new possibilites for leadership and service for both clergy and laity -- and the changing relationships between the two. | ||

| Strengths: Extraordinarily active lay ministry that does everything from visiting people in nursing homes to taking meals to people who are homeless to cleaning the church bathrooms and making plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs. Strong sense of familyamong the parishioners, which creates a community of caring and support and prayer. Ardent commitment to Outreach. Worship is well attended and there is a depth of participation in both planning and participation by the laity. | ||
| Challenges: The possibility of growth threatens to undo the family feeling and presents challenges to the worship space, so there is ambivalence about growth, evanglism and mission. Stewardship is narrowly defined. Financial pledging (54 pledges) is weak overall. | ||

| Strengths: We are a faithful, accepting people from a variety of Christian traditions and perspectives. Love and concern for one another is important to us. Our strengths lie in our lay involvement, Bible study groups, child care, Children's Church/Christian Education, our guilds and parishioners' involvement in the community, and in the fact that we recognize we live in a time of rapid change and we need to become more flexible in our worship processes and ministries to survive. | ||
| Challenges: To energize and grow our parish. We are exploring opportunities to grow our numbers through new services and scheduling that may be more attractive to our changing community. We wish to strengthen our lay leadership, improve our music, and build newministries while maintaining key ministries and traditions. We want to enable change to create more enthusiasm for Christian Education, to attract youth, and to meet the needs of challenged young families as they are defined in today's busy world. | ||

| Strengths: A small friendly historic church that dates back to 1642. Our goal is a balanced partnership between ordained clergy & parish members. We hope to remain faithful to the Episcopal Church USA, maintain a strong sense of family, serve needs of the congregation, invite people to join; preserve historic facilities & maintain a balanced budget. | ||
| Challenges: Stale demographics and rural location are challenges to future growth. | ||
| Comments: This congregation would be a great first parish for a recently ordained person, or a semi- or early retired clergyperson. | ||

| Strengths: St. Mark’s is a spiritually grounded community of caring believers that continues to grow in numbers and service to others. We are financially sound and have a strong commitment to stewardship. We are sensitive to the needs of the communities of thegreater North East Kingdom, and dedicated to community outreach. We are strong in pastoral care and are passionately supportive of mutual ministry through lay participation in preaching, a thriving Sunday school program, lay visitation, and all of our other outreach and community ministries including a food shelf, the Tuesday "Souper Lunch", and PINS. The voice of God acting through the people of Saint Mark’s can be heard and seen every day of the year. | ||
| Challenges: So what is God up to here at St. Mark’s? And how do we move forward with that? Our continuing challenge is to nourish our existing church community and to grow it by our commitment to Christ’s admonition to reach out to the world and share His love with others and welcome them into our church family. An important part of our mutual lay ministry is an active Covenant group (also called a Baptismal ministry) which has been in existence for over two years. It is our prayer that this group wi | ||

| Strengths: While the recesssion has had an impact, this is a part of Charles County that is still growing. Large number of children and families at Trinity Church. A number of county leaders are members of the vestry and leaders in the church. Facilities are in excellent condition. Very real care and attention paid to children. Expressed openness to shared ministry with other congregations, but no plan has emerged for this. Thrift store is a ministry in many ways and especially supports excellent outreachwork. Sense of being part of the diocese and the larger church. | ||
| Challenges: Two worship locations, one parish, vestry. Struggling to preserve "family feel" while in transition from family to pastoral sized. Conflict with previous priest-in-charge over change. This time reentering search with an interim who knows the region well, as well as their strengths and challenges. | ||

| Position: Full Time | Status: No Longer Receiving Names |
|
| Strengths: Trinity is located in the middle of downtown Morgantown, right in the midst of West Va. Univ activity. They have college ministry with a part-time college minister (lay). The parish sponsors a strong feeding program for those struggling economically. The leadership is tenacious and faithful. Significant missionary work at home and abroad. | ||
| Challenges: Rector of 17 yrs. retired, having lost members who were concerned that he was too conservative and members who believed he was not conservative enough, leaving a moderately conservative congregational base. Relationship with the diocese has been strained, even though Bishop Klusmeyer is himself a centrist conservative. College ministry has been fairly conservative evangelical. Financially, they are struggling, but had a good stewardship campaign in the Fall. | ||
| Comments: Will take a seasoned priest, spiritually-centered, who is comfortable with both evangelical and broad-church traditions. There is opportunity here for re-growth and increased college ministry. | ||

| Challenges: Need someone to help them revision the future following a larger-than-life rector of 28 years. Identified area of need is to work on improving worship and music. Although they need a financial stewardship push, their % giving is above national ave. | ||
| Comments: Would be helpful if new rector had some transition training. Following a long rectorate, not all the transitional work will be done by interim. This is a bed-rock parish in the diocese. | ||

| Position: Priest-in-Charge | Full Time |
Status: No Longer Receiving Names |
| Strengths: Endowment of $1.5 million. Excellent music program. Leadership is willing to invest in real conflict transformation. Very small congregation is "nesting" in Christ Church and selling their building. Could lead to a merger. | ||
| Challenges: Enormous physical plant in a mostly abandonded downtown. Former rector tried to lead them out of TEC, drove off parishioners. Conflict after conflict. | ||
| Comments: They need a very saavy priest with mediation skills. Priest in charge came into serious conflict and tried to change their liturgical style. | ||

| Strengths: An Episcopal/Lutheran partnership. The parish is "Episcopalian" one week and "Lutheran" the next. Looking for 2 days/wk. Nice folks, want some pastoral care and a sacramentalist. | ||
| Challenges: Would like to be more involved in the community. Seasonal changes in attendance is significant, about 10 in winter and 40 in summer. | ||
| Comments: Great place for a part-time priest. Beautiful mountain setting near Blowing Rock and Boone. The Priest would need to be approved by the ELCA. We'll walk you through that process. | ||
