Strengths: While roots were planted in the 19th century, our energy is pure 21st century. We can boast of a full range –for all ages –Christian Formation programs, innovative Outreach efforts, and wide lay participation in Liturgical Ministries. The breadth of lay members involvement extends to all members of St. John’s including children and youth who fill the lay minister roles at the Sunday Family Eucharistic. The church is located in one of the fastest growing areas in Illinois and seeks a pastor to grow with us.
Challenges: As our parish continues to grow, a strong a strong effort to increase our income revenues must occur. The parish has three very different services on Sunday; thus, there is a need to incorporate these three different congregations into a unified fellowship. Another challenge facing the parishioners and our new pastor would be to welcome more young families with children into our parish.

LAKE RONKONKOMA
SAINT MARY'S
Listed: 09/18/11  Updated: 12/01/11
Position: Rector
Full Time
Status: No Longer Receiving Names
Strengths: St. Mary's, Lake Ronkonkoma, is a parish in which the members are strongly committed to one another. Many of them have had positive experiences with the Cursillo movement, which somewhat colors their worship and their biblical understandings. They are a Eucharistic community that leans to liturgy embellished by traditional signs of catholic piety. The congregation is solidly middle class, made up primarily of skilled workers and small business persons with a smattering of professionals. They are known as a place where social outreach matters, and they maintain outreach programming on site. They care well for their property and much of that care they provide themselves.
Challenges: There are occasional tensions arising from the renewal stance of many in the parish, but these tensions seem to be outweighed by the very genuine affection they have for one another. Located slightly outside of town, facing Lake Ronkonkoma, they maysuffer from a bit of isolation,
Comments: They would prosper with leadership that is "down-to-earth," affable, willing to enter into their corporate life, and desirous of a ministry centered in biblical teaching/practice.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE
CHURCH OF THE ASCENSION
Listed: 09/18/11  Updated: 12/06/11
Position: Rector
Full Time
Status: No Longer Receiving Names
Strengths: A parish gathered from many communities, Ascension's main interest is in it music and worship tradition. They remain an eastward position parish, employing Rite I for most services, with great attention paid to their musical tradition. They value strong, fairly intellectual preaching. This is a place where beauty matters, and beauty interpreted in fairly traditional terms; Conservative in public life but socially liberal; Single/married, straight, gay will be of little account to these folks.Church sets at the middle of the village of Rockville Centre; stunning rectory 2 miles from church in nice neighborhood.
Challenges: They do not presently relate a great deal to the community of Rockville Centre, and they recognize that. They do understand that this should occupy more of their attention, and would probably be open to clergy who would become more involved in the community.
Comments: Though steeped in their spiritual and liturgical traditions, a talented, slow-to-make- changes priest would find acceptance in broadening the scope of their practice. Church across from RC Cathedral.

ROSEDALE
SAINT PETER'S
Listed: 09/18/11  Updated: 12/01/11
Position: Rector
Full Time
Status: No Longer Receiving Names
Strengths: Rosedale is a fairly nice, well-kept community near Kennedy airport; many parishioners live in close proximity to the church. They are well established and well organized. Trustworthy would be a good word with which to describe their leadership. They highly affirm the value of their intergenerational life and exult in it. They truly watch out for one another. They have fairly traditional notions about leadership, but they are not willing to be dominated, they are too talented and bright for that. This is a talented, committed congregation with a higher than average percentage of professionals. They tend to worship in the catholic tradition (incense etc.)using Rite II for their principle liturgy. This is a place with a good mind and a goodheart from top to bottom.
Challenges: Church property though meticulously maintained is space-challenged and hidden in a neighborhood - difficult to find. However, they are a proud and good congregation of doers who want to be more obvious so they can share their good parish life.
Comments: They have an open heart, mind and spirit as they discern the call of their next rector.

SHELTER ISLAND

Full Time
Community: Rural
Compensation: $60000-$70000
Housing: Supplied
Budget: $178600
Communicants: 198
Avg Sun Attendance: 77
Church School: 10(c) --(a) --(t)
Liturgical Style: Family Style/Rite II/Traditional
Status: Receiving names
Strengths: St. Mary's is a vibrant year-round community set in a seaside vacation community that is quite literally an island on the east end of Long Island. This is an earnest and committed group of lay leaders who have worked to maintain and develop a solidparish community. Worship tends toward traditional prayerbook. Warm human sermons that are lectionary-focused are highly valued. Relationships and care for each other are also highly valued. Exceptionally beautiful and well-maintained parish groundsand buildings that are generously shared with the community. Recently renovated spacious rectory on a large parcel of land is located 1.5 miles away from the church.
Challenges: A continuous ferry is necessary for getting on and off the island. This is not a place for someone who is interested in implementing lots rapid change. However, a trustworthy rector who is willing to be patient will find that these folks are open to expanding their vision of church and ministry at the local, diocesan and global level.
Comments: Parish plays a central role in the life of the island community throughout the year. However, it could expand it's ministerial presence to the vacationing summer residents.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH
SAINT MARK'S
Listed: 09/18/11  Updated: 11/29/11
Position: Rector
Full Time
Status: No Longer Receiving Names
Strengths: Financially stable, strong year-round parish located in a summer beach community. Parish is intergenerational with a strong commitment to children's ministries. Worship tends to be fairly straightforward Prayer Book liturgy with a solid vibrant music ministry. A commitment to local and global outreach continues to capture the hearts of these folks. Magnificent and expansive physical plant well used for parish and community-focused ministries. Beautiful, updated large rectory located near town, about 1 mile from the church. More than half of the parish is somehow connected to Manhattan, commuting to St. Mark's for the weekends, or for the summer.
Challenges: St. Mark's is a solid place, doing a lot of good things here and now. However, the question on the OTM, "How are you planning for the church of the future," finds them curious about their next steps in mission, be it to the local community, the Diocese etc. A new rector will need to help them engage a time of visioning, strategic/long-term planning.
Comments: This is real gem of a parish in a nice setting, a wonderful place and could be amazing. A rector who is affable and bright but also spiritually grounded and well-individuated would do well here.

Strengths: Our beautiful gardens offer sanctuary for all. Our physical facilities and lovely rectory are an asset. We are a community that prides itself on our acceptance of all persons. All are welcome here and all belong. We have very active parishioners whoare generous with their time and talents. St. Mary’s is known for our long commitment to local outreach. We are also well recognized for our outstanding community-wide events (i.e. Holly Fair/ Daffodil Tea, 9/11 and Veterans Day Services etc.) The Children’s Joy Mass is a shinning star at St. Mary’s and continues to draw in young families.
Challenges: We need to strengthen our efforts in pastoral care to the elderly, shut-ins and those who are ill. It is a sad reality that deaths are out pacing new members. We need to increase our evangelistic efforts and find alternative ways to draw in new parishioners. We have a strong group of young children thriving with the Godly Play curriculum but our youth group is floundering. We need to offer as much to the young men and women in our parish as we are to the little ones. We need more opportunities

Strengths: St. Michael's is a welcoming parish with a strong sense of community and of caring for each other. It is our spiritual village in a turbulent world. Lay leadership at Saint Michael's is encouraged, and consequently parishioners generously give of their time and talents to participate in the parish's many ministries and help them to grow and flourish. Saint Michael's is strongly committed to its broad outreach programs, in the community and beyond, including recent mission trips to help hurricane victims in New Orleans and financial assistance to a school for girls in Rwanda. Recently, it has dedicated a portion of its endowment expressly for outreach purposes. Saint Michael's is firmly grounded in Anglican Liturgy, and its worship experience i further enriched by an excellent music program, a lay sermon group, unique and special services for special holidays and occasions, and an openness to the exploration of other creative ways to enrich the worship experience. Strengths: St. Mark’s is a spiritually grounded community of caring believers that continues to grow in numbers and service to others. We are financially sound and have a strong commitment to stewardship. We are sensitive to the needs of the communities of thegreater North East Kingdom, and dedicated to community outreach. We are strong in pastoral care and are passionately supportive of mutual ministry through lay participation in preaching, a thriving Sunday school program, lay visitation, and all of our other outreach and community ministries including a food shelf, the Tuesday "Souper Lunch", and PINS. The voice of God acting through the people of Saint Mark’s can be heard and seen every day of the year.
Challenges: So what is God up to here at St. Mark’s? And how do we move forward with that? Our continuing challenge is to nourish our existing church community and to grow it by our commitment to Christ’s admonition to reach out to the world and share His love with others and welcome them into our church family. An important part of our mutual lay ministry is an active Covenant group (also called a Baptismal ministry) which has been in existence for over two years. It is our prayer that this group wi
